First Roll of Film

Thu Apr 3, 2008, 4:05 PM
Extremely grainy, dust on film... This first roll of film is a great step forward to me. I've been using digital since it first appear. Never did explore the world of film, never did give great respect to film... Now I've changed my mind after this little roll of film. It doesn't make any sense shooting films nowadays. Digital is faster, better quality, cheaper. But some how when I shoot digital, half of my brain shuts down. It's always great to have the little device to take care of exposure, focus and large room for after process. But at the end of the day I forget every little aspect of photography having half of my brain shuts down. I guess digital gives a better beginner's training and film gives better training of precision: to make it right first time in the camera. Especially when shooting film I tend to focus more in waiting the right moment to press the shutter. Analyzing through the lens and imagining what it will look like after developed. It's also funny when people ask to see how the photo looks like and all they can see is the film tag on the back of the camera. Guess it's never too late to start something I should have done long before. It will be more films and making fine prints for me.

Really glad you're enjoying it!
Sounds like you've found most of the things that are great about film, just for the record though the quality of film is actually higher than digital, at least for practical purposes.
